From a distance this piece is realistic in nature, but upon closer examination, it reveals a complex and rhythmic array of colors and textures. To create the piece, Scott first did an oil under-painting. Once dried, it is was then overlaid with multiple strokes of line and textures throughout which create patterns of movement and decorative design. The combination of extremes in light and dark with the decorative movement in the lower half of the painting create a poetic and delightful composition to explore. In a sense it moves from order in the light to abstraction in the darkness. Obviously a statement that shadows both human and spiritual truth...
